Wind Powered Elecricity for homes

I am looking ways to harness the wind power to generate electricity for my home or any home. The idea is to fix a fan, big enough to rotate a motor to generate electricity. This will be used to charge a battery, which should have enough voltage to power the home lights (CFL lights) and radio and possibly the fan.

The result will be that you will be generating your own electricity without paying a cent (Other than the initial capital cost), which otherwise you will be paying to the electricity company.

The hitch here is finding a fan and fixing at a height where the wind speed will be high. Another idea is to fix a inverter to the battery (output) to step up the electricity generated, so it can be used to power say a Television?.

This will not only bring the electricity cost down, but eliminate the nuisance of the power cuts.
